AYC Admiral Capitalizes on 30th Anniversary 30 Percent Discount

AYC Admiral, attorney and author David Dun of Eureka, Calif., has chartered from AYC about 30 times, sometimes twice in the same year. He keeps coming back due to AYC's "great service, reliability, experience, professionalism and beautifully clean, well-maintained boats" In January when AYC's 30th Anniversary 30 Percent Discount was introduced, Dun says, "The discount was so huge I jumped in and reserved a spot because the price was so good." Acknowledging the recession, Dun says that this year he has reserved the 40' Bayliner, "Once Around" instead of their usual 60-footer, "We're being cautious; but we still plan to have our usual fun and, now, a bargain vacation due to the great savings."

AYC's Exclusive Cruising Guarantee Saves the Day

When it comes to boating, everyone knows that "stuff happens." Still, hardly anything is more frustrating than when an impellor, bilge or macerator pump goes on the fritz during your charter vacation. But when a glitch happens, AYC's Exclusive Cruising Guarantee will save the day. For example, when his 40' Bayliner charter boat experienced a prop shaft leak and unoperational bilge pump, Leland Adams of Lake Stevens had to return to Anacortes for repairs. AYC's response was immediate and generous. "AYC did a great job of dealing with our problem," says Adams. "They also compensated for the boat's downtime by giving us two free days on our next charter!"

Starting in March, Jump Aboard an AYC Power or Sail Cruising Class

This spring, grab your toothbrush, deck shoes and rain jacket and jump aboard one of  AYC's power cruising or American Sailing Association (ASA) courses. Classes are offered most every weekend, starting March 20-22 and running through June 26-29. Power Cruising - Twin Engine sets the stage for bareboat chartering by providing students with a powerful introduction to docking, anchoring and navigation. Power Cruising - Single Engine offers the same intensive training as twin engine and serves as a great class for sailors transitioning to power. Skipper & 1st Mate Power Cruising  is a fun way for couples to master boat handling skills together.

Sailors looking to bareboat charter will want to participate in the popular 4 day/3 night combined ASA 101, 103 and 104 course. In 101, they learn how to cruise a 22-foot sailboat in regional waters in moderate weather. Course 103 continues training on all aspects of sailboat handling, including docking, anchoring and safety. In advanced training 104, participants further their skills as skipper and crew are on board a 30-40-foot boat by day in coastal waters.
